What the Dog-Specific Evidence Actually Shows
The most relevant trial to date is a randomized, controlled study that gave senior dogs a combination of a senolytic and an NAD+ precursor and tracked owner-assessed outcomes against a placebo group, as reported in Scientific Reports. It measured cognitive function scores, and dogs on the full dose showed the largest improvement from baseline — a real, dog-specific signal, but a narrower one than “more energy.” No comparably designed trial has isolated general energy or stamina as the primary endpoint in dogs.
Behind an NAD+ precursor chew, you’ll often find quercetin and resveratrol riding along as antioxidant support. Start at the labeled dose for your dog’s weight — don’t split adult doses for a small dog without checking the label’s own weight tiers. Give it consistently, at the same time each day, for at least four to six weeks before judging effect; cellular pathways don’t shift overnight, and the trial data that exists ran on a similar timescale. Keep a simple log — a note on your phone of appetite, willingness to walk, and how quickly your dog gets up from lying down — because memory alone tends to round toward whatever you were hoping to see.
